We’re celebrating the iconic Canadian flavour of Maple this week.  Start your morning with a plate of Whole Oatmeal Pancakes, topped with organic blueberries, drizzled with The Village Grocer Maple Syrup and a side our of hand crafted Maple and Bacon Sausages…..all on sale this week! 

Wholesome Oatmeal Pancakes

This recipe comes from Karen and Linda, our Queen Bees in the Village. They are made with wholewheat flour and no sugar.  Add sweetness with a drizzle of maple syrup and fresh berries.


1 cup all purpose flour

1 cup of wholewheat flour

1 cup of rolled oats

2 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg

1 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. kosher salt

2 1/2 cups buttermilk

1/4 cup vegetable oil

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla


Combine all the dry ingredients in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, then add in the buttermilk, oil and vanilla until well blended.  Using a wooden spoon, stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until combined.

Heat a nonstick pan over medium/high.  Spoon batter onto heat pan.  Once bubbles start to form, flip and continue to cook until pancake starts to puff up and is golden on the bottom.

Serve with fresh fruit and maple syrup.
