We built an ice cream lab in the basement of the store with everything we would need to make the best ice cream in town. While ice cream is always a hit, we can safely say that ours is a step above just about anything else on the market. We use locally sourced cream, fresh fruit and only the finest ingredients.

The Village Creamery line offers exceptional ice cream with incredible flavour profiles. Equal to proper technique, incorporating only first-rate ingredients is key to produce high-quality ice cream and that is just what we do.

Late 2019 – early 2020, Evan, owner of The Village Grocer, who has never fully retired, a visionary starting with the Village Grocer and everything it encompasses, (including assembling an apple peeler from scratch… a story for a later day) called his son Thomas into his office and without ever knowing the full process behind it said, “Let’s make ice cream, when can we start?”. Evan quickly built an ice cream lab in the basement of the store with everything we would need to make the best ice cream in town. Now we just needed a master ice cream maker…

Ed & Wendy

Ed and his wife, Wendy, have 12 years of experience in the ice cream business and know the ins and outs of the ice cream world. Ed lives and breathes ice cream and has a personality you can’t steer away from, a perfect fit with our Village Grocer family.

After about 6 months of experimenting with different creams, flavours and techniques we were thrilled to offer our first batch of Village Creamery Ice Cream in July of 2020. At the start, we had 7 flavours, but since then we have developed 30+ flavours, many of which are based on our bestselling desserts we make from scratch right here in our bakery department at The Village Grocer such as Jelly Roll, Buttertart, Lemon Meringue, Turtles Cheesecake – the list goes on.
