Who doesn’t love a good comforting dessert made with fresh fruit and topped with a cookie-like topping? Our simple recipe is made in a slow cooker allowing the flavours to meld while the room fills with its intoxicating aroma while freeing up your oven. A great fuss-free recipe to add to your Thanksgiving Dessert menu.

Ingredients:
Fruit Filling:
3.5 lbs. Granny Smith apples, cored, peeled & slices
3.5 lbs. Pears, cored, peeled & slice
1 cup craisons (dried cranberries)
1/2 cup white sugar
2 tbsp. of corn starch
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. cinnamon
juice 1/2 lemon
cooking spray

Topping:
1 cup flour
3/4 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup butter, cut into small cubes

Method:
Spray the slow cooker with the cooking spray. Lay the fruit slices in the bottom of the cooker. Add the rest of the ingredients for the filling and mix well. Cover and cook on high for 30 minutes.

While the filling is cooking, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar and cinnamon in a large bowl.
Cut the butter into the mixture using a pastry blender or your fingers until it resembles small
crumbles. Place the crumble mixture evenly on top of the fruit, cover and continue to cook for 3 hours on the high setting until fruit is fork-tender. Remove lid and let cook for another 30 minutes as this allows the top to crisp up. Serve with vanilla ice cream.
