For some of you who don’t know Andrea yet, she is now the head of our bakery department….you may recognize her from the bakery at the old store on Carlton. She has such a creative mind, introducing new and exciting recipes to share with all of you. Here is one of her family favorites that is simple and easy to make for everyone!

Ingredients: ½ cup soft butter

¼ cup icing sugar + ½ for finishing

½ teaspoon vanilla

1 cup all purpose flour

pinch of salt

¾ cup ground walnuts

Directions: Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Beat icing sugar with butter till very pale and fluffy, and then add vanilla. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, salt and ground walnuts. Add dry to butter mixture and stir together just until blended. Space dough into crescents. Place about a inch apart on baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until slightly golden on the bottom and firm to the touch. Cool on pan, on rack for 10 minutes. Place remaining icing sugar in a shallow dish. Roll crescents in sugar. Cool completely before storing in air tight container. Enjoy!
