HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVAN!

Thomas here: This year we celebrate the birthday of the man, the myth, the legend, the ‘Village Grocer’ himself, Evan. Obviously as his son I’m slightly biased, but by all accounts he’s a pretty inspirational guy.

Our store owes its success to many people like our employees, our customers, and our suppliers but ultimately, Evan has been the architect of the brand, running the business, curating our offerings and setting our high standards for customer service. But beyond what he’s accomplished professionally, I think his legacy outside the walls of the VG is even more remarkable. He’s a quiet guy, embodying the archetypical ‘strong, silent type’, makes time for anybody and everybody, always offers the best advice, and has always prioritized giving back to the community. He’s one of the hardest working people I’ve ever met, but thankfully after decades of busting his butt, we’ve decided to give him a few days off, which is why he’s not in the store as much.
