On Monday, July 19th, we and hundreds of other grocery stores across the country will recognize and celebrate the essential folks that keep our businesses operating day-in and day-out. The staff at the Village Grocer who serve you each day across the counter, at check-out, in the aisle or on the phone, as well as those who work behind the scenes in our production facilities, are truly the unsung heroes that kept us running day-in and day-out over the past 18 months.

During these uncertain and difficult times, working in the grocery industry has been challenging to say the least. While most of society took refuge from any interaction with the public, our staff continued to show up despite deep concerns for their own . . . and their loved one’s personal health as well. Staff expecting a child, staff who go home each day to a household with vulnerable grandparents, staff with underlying health issues, and staff who were experiencing unprecedented stress levels, continued to arrive to work each and every day. And despite all the pressure, they arrived and served with smiles on their faces each day.

Without them, we would not have been able to keep our business operating and serving the community as we have for the past 35 year. For that, we are eternally grateful for their support and dedication during this particularly tough period in our existence.

If you are in the store this coming Monday (or the week for that matter), please join us in recognizing and celebrating the Grocery Heroes that work here in our own store.
