Here at the Village Grocer we have a strong love for our furry friends. When we heard about National Cupcake Day in support of SPCA and Humane Society, and private rescue groups a few years ago, we jumped right on board. The idea of promoting our incredible cupcakes to benefit a great cause is something everybody in the store got behind.

This year National Cupcake Day (presented by Milk-Bone and Robin Hood), falls on Monday, February 28, and marks the 10-year anniversary of this delicious event. To celebrate and support this great cause, a portion of the proceeds from our cupcake sales will be donated to two great organizations; The Markham SPCA and the Save Me Dog Rescue which is run by our long-standing VG customer, Roz Brodsky.

We’ll be running the promotion from Thursday, February 24th to Monday, February 28th inclusive. There will be a host of delicious flavours available to choose from, including Red Velvet, Black & White Mousse, Caramel Praline, Raspberry Mousse, Lemon Meringue, Cookies & Cream, Vanilla, Chocolate, and of course our Mixed Berry Jelly Roll.

Finally, while the MacDonald’s have traditionally been hardcore “cat” people, last year saw a new addition with the arrival of “Poppy”, the Portuguese Waterdog, to the VG family. If you are active on Instagram or Facebook, show your support for this great cause by tagging/posting a photo of you and your family pet. Cupcake Day – the sweetest day of the year! #VGCupcakeDay
