This family favourite is sure to delight the chocolate lovers in the family! On special occasions, Cousin Clara would top her chocolate banana bread with a simple chocolate icing. Always a hit!

Ingredients:
Loaf:
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup salted butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs, beaten
4 ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Chocolate Drizzle Icing:
Optional but brings the chocolate loaf to cake-like status!
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp unsalted butter, soften to room temperature

Method:
Preheat the oven to 350F degrees. Butter 9X5 loaf pan and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and baking powder. In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugars. Add in the eggs and bananas and combined well. Add this to the flour mixture along with the chocolate chips. Gently stir until combined. Bake 50-60 minutes. Let rest for 5 minutes before removing from pan. Let cool completely before icing.

Chocolate Drizzle Icing:
Place the chocolate chips in a heat proof bowl. Heat the cream in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer. Pour over the chocolate chips and let stand for 5-7 minutes until it has softened. Add the butter and still until smooth. Cool slightly before drizzling it onto the loaf.
